Laptop Encryption

Due to the portability of laptops, and the inevitable fact that they will often be disconnected from the corporate network, it is very important that you consider each of the following questions:

• What would the implications be to our business if one of the laptops was stolen? 
      – What unique data could be lost?
      – What confidential/sensitive information could be compromised?
      – What data protection might be breached?

• How much company data exists on laptops used out in the field?
      – Are your users diligent in not saving information to the desktop etc.?
  

• Is the data encrypted?
      – How easy would it be for someone to access the the software/data?

Laptop encryption effectively creates a new boot-logon screen which requires the user to logon immediately that a laptop is turned on.  ISL can supply laptop encryption with a free centralised server application with small footprint* which allows you to:

• Centrally manage all your encryption keys, and issue new/replacement ones
• Implement policies e.g. the system locks after 3 failed attempts to log on and/or challenge-response questions should a user forget his password etc
